Monotonicity describes how the integral grows with the interval.

Let $f(x)$ be continuous on $[a,b]$ and $a<c<d<b$. Then

$\int_a^c f(x)\,dx \le \int_a^d f(x)\,dx$

Proof idea: apply interval additivity and sign-preserving.
