Sign-Preserving Property

Sign-preserving links the sign of $f(x)$ to the sign of its integral.

Let $f(x)$ be continuous on $[a,b]$:

1. If $f(x)\ge 0$ on $[a,b]$, then $\int_a^b f(x)\,dx \ge 0$.
2. If $f(x)>0$ on $[a,b]$, then $\int_a^b f(x)\,dx > 0$.

应用例子

例：$\int_0^1 x^2 dx > 0$ because $x^2\ge0$ and $>0$ on $(0,1]$.
